Let’s fix hospitality, for good.
Hospitality is tough – margins are thin, waste is high, and teams are stretched. But it doesn’t have to be this hard. That’s why we built Nory.
Our CEO, Conor, knows the pain first-hand. After founding and scaling Mad Egg in Ireland, he got fed up with juggling “market-leading” systems, clunky spreadsheets, and endless printouts. So he set out to build the tool he wished he’d had from day one.
Nory is an all-knowing restaurant management system. It blends real-time data with AI predictive analytics, giving operators control of their margins. From food prep to forecasting, it’s operational intelligence that helps restaurants run with consistency, certainty, and profit. The result? Thriving restaurants, better jobs, less waste, healthier margins. Learn more about what we are building here.
And we’re just getting started. Fresh off a Series B led by Kinnevik, we’ve grown to 80+ people across Ireland, the UK, Spain and New York – and demand is scaling faster than we ever imagined.
The role
We’re looking for an Engineering Team Lead to join our Inventory team. Inventory is one of the key components of the Nory operating software. It underpins COGS, gross profit, financial reporting, and our ability to automate ordering and reconciliation at scale. This team is responsible for making Nory’s inventory data reliable day-to-day, robust enough for enterprise finance teams, and ready to support our 2026 AI vision.
This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll balance technical ownership, delivery, and people leadership to ship a reliable, high-impact product. Find out more about what it means to be a product engineer at Nory here.
You should be comfortable working across backend and frontend systems. We’re stack-agnostic in our hiring and care most about strong engineering fundamentals and the ability to ramp quickly. Today, our stack includes Python, FastAPI, React, TypeScript, Node.js, AWS (Fargate, Aurora, SQS), Postgres, MongoDB, and Docker.
What you’ll be doing
As Engineering Team Lead for the Inventory Squad, you’ll build and evolve the systems of record that power Nory’s inventory, COGS, and financial accuracy – turning messy, real-world operational data into trusted, auditable foundations for automation and AI.
Own the technical direction and delivery of Inventory at Nory, ensuring data integrity across orders, invoices, stock counts, recipes, waste, and suppliers.
Raise the reliability bar by leading initiatives like audit trails, immutable data patterns, and locked stock periods – enabling traceability, accountability, and enterprise confidence.
Improve the accuracy of COGS and stock valuation, tackling complex reconciliation problems such as opening and closing stock alignment, VAT handling, and supplier pricing logic.
Reduce manual effort through automation, including smart matching, confidence-based routing, and AI-assisted workflows that cut noise, errors, and human-in-the-loop overhead.
Lay the foundations for explainable AI, building systems where every automated action can be traced, verified, and trusted by customers and auditors.
Partner closely with Product, Data, Design, and Customer teams to balance correctness, usability, and speed of delivery in a highly operational domain.
Lead and coach a squad of engineers, setting clear direction, reviewing code, unblocking delivery, and fostering a culture of ownership, pragmatism, and continuous improvement.
Act as a multiplier for delivery, keeping the team focused on outcomes that reduce churn, improve margins, and unlock scale for Nory’s next phase.
What you’ll bring
Hands-on technical leadership: Significant experience building and operating production systems, with deep strength in either backend or frontend and the ability to work effectively across the stack.
Product-focused delivery experience: Proven experience working in cross-functional product squads (Engineering, Product, Design, Data), delivering high-impact work with clear commercial or customer outcomes.
Systems thinking: You’ve designed and evolved systems that stand up over time, making pragmatic trade-offs between speed, quality, and long-term maintainability.
Strong product instincts: You connect engineering work directly to customer and business outcomes, and you’re comfortable shaping scope alongside Product.
Delivery ownership: You take responsibility for your team’s focus, pace, and outcomes, removing blockers and keeping work moving.
People leadership: You enjoy coaching engineers, giving clear feedback, and helping individuals grow while building a healthy, high-performing team culture.
Clear communication: You can explain complex technical ideas simply and work effectively with non-engineering stakeholders.
Nice to have
Experience building financial or inventory systems of record.
Exposure to AI-assisted workflows, automation, or ML-driven decision systems.
Experience supporting enterprise customers with audit or compliance needs.
If you’re excited by the problems we’re solving but don’t tick every box, we’d still love to hear from you.
What you’ll get in return:
🌍 Remote-first working environment - You must have the right to work in the UK or EU to be considered for this role.
