About us
Samaipata is an early stage founders' fund investing in digital businesses with network effects across Europe. The fund was founded in 2016 by two entrepreneurs, José del Barrio and Eduardo Díez-Hochleitner. José was the co-founder and CEO of the leading food-delivery platform in Spain (La Nevera Roja) which sold for $100 million. Eduardo was founder of a 3D sound system sold to Dolby (IMM Sound), former partner at Apax Partners, a prolific business angel, and early backer and current Chairman at MásMóvil, recently valued at €20 billion, becoming the first Southern European Decacorn. Since our inception, we have strengthened our team with world-class talent in the investment squad as well as operations, founder success and growth. We are a remote-first company with team members distributed across Europe.

After founding Samaipata and launching our first fund (€29M) back in 2016, we invested in 17 companies across Europe, such as Matera, Deporvillage (acquired by JD Sports), Legl, and Foodchéri (acquired by Sodexo). In 2020, we launched our second fund (€110M) and have closed 15 investments. We are currently investing at a fast pace, we expect to invest in c. 20 more companies in the next 2 years.
