Business & Data Analyst
IT, Data Science · Full-time
Hull, UK
Company Description
Veremark is a remote-first HR tech scale-up on a mission to help the world trust faster.
We started with background and reference checking, pioneering an entirely new approach through Verepass - a blockchain solution which facilitates instant verification by enabling candidates to own, manage, and share their securely-held and verified career credentials.
We have recently launched our second product - a Whistleblowing platform with end-to-end encryption enabling employees to report issues safely and anonymously.
But this is just the beginning. Join us and become part of the journey using technology to help the world trust faster.
Job Description
We're hiring a Business & Data Analyst to support the consolidation of an acquired screening platform into Veremark. You'll work under the direction of our M&A PMO, delivering analysis and data tasks against our established integration playbook.
Veremark is a background screening and workforce trust technology company. Employers use us to run pre-employment checks, to verify criminal records, right to work, references, identity, credit and more, through our platform and integrate us with their ATS and HR systems.
You'll sit in the PMO's lean core team, taking direction from the Program Director and supporting the operations, HR and finance leads, product and engineering. It's a hybrid role: half business analysis (processes, requirements, gap analysis), half hands-on data (profiling, reconciliation, reporting). It's a great fit if you've been a BA or data analyst for a few years and want broad exposure to a real M&A integration.
You'll pick up tasks from the Program Director and workstream leads, following our existing M&A integration playbook and flagging anything that doesn't fit.
Platform consolidation
Help map the acquired platform: check types, workflows, candidate journeys, client configurations and edge cases.
Carry out gap analysis against Veremark's product using the playbook templates, and present findings for decision.
Keep the migration plan and tracker up to date: cohorts, cut-over dates, dependencies and actions.
Document current and future-state processes, and draft requirements and user stories for review.
Integrations and billing
Build and maintain the inventory of ATS/HRIS integrations, API consumers and webhooks, and each client's migration status.
Help map products, price books and contract terms onto Veremark's pricing, flagging anything that looks off.
Support Finance with billing reconciliation through cut-over.
Data, validation and reporting
Profile the acquired platform's data with SQL: volumes, usage by client, active vs. dormant accounts, data quality.
Help build field-level mappings between the two data models, and test migrated data against them.
Run the validation and reconciliation queries on each client cohort, and log and chase data issues.
Maintain the migration dashboard and prepare data for PMO reporting.
Use AI tools to speed up the work: summarising legacy docs, drafting mappings, cleansing and classifying data.
Pull usage and revenue data to help the PMO prioritise which clients move first.
Customers and stakeholders
Provide data and client lists to Customer Success and Sales for migration comms.
Contribute progress, issues and data to the Program Director's weekly update.
Follow Compliance guidance on consent, data residency and audit when handling migrated data.
Qualifications
Must have
2+ years as a business analyst, business systems analyst or data analyst, ideally in B2B SaaS.
Worked on a platform migration, system implementation or integration project as part of a team.
Solid SQL (joins, CTEs, aggregations): comfortable writing your own queries to profile and reconcile data.
Core BA skills: process mapping, gap analysis, data mapping, requirements and user stories, UAT.
Some experience building dashboards or reports in a BI tool (e.g. Looker, Metabase, Power BI).
Curious about how systems fit together, and confident asking engineers about data models, APIs and integrations.
Comfortable working to direction and a set playbook, and knowing when to flag an issue rather than guess.
Meticulous and organised, with a strong eye for detail and data accuracy.
Clear communicator who can explain data to non-technical people.
Nice to have
Exposure to pricing, contracts or billing data.
Experience in background screening, HR tech, RegTech or another regulated industry.
Familiarity with ATS/HRIS platforms (e.g. Workday, SuccessFactors, Greenhouse, Bullhorn).
Working knowledge of GDPR, data residency and audit requirements.
Python for data cleansing and automation, or experience using AI tools to speed up analysis.
Previous exposure to an acquisition or post-merger integration.
